Northern part of county hit hard by ice storm

The ice storm earlier this week left few signs of lasting damage in Van Buren and southern Crawford County, although the northern part of the county was harder hit, with Mountainburg schools remaining closed through Friday.

Ex-detective sentenced to prison

Former Van Buren police detective Miklos Molnar was sentenced Thursday to five years in federal prison for embezzling nearly $51,000 in seized drug money from the police department’s evidence room and using it to pay personal debts.
