How radical has the American Episcopal Church become? According to the Episcopal Church’s recently released official “State of the Church” report, many of the denomination’s congregations are losing membership and are mired in controversy over divisive moral issues.

As a member of the Episcopal Church, I applaud the boldness of Rev. Ragsdale and EDS to stand up for those who protect the right to choose. Religious leaders, like Ragsdale, Robinson, and King, who have stood up for freedom and liberty, have always been the harbingers of future social change. I’m sorry Mr. Sanders is on the wrong side of history.

Ms Ragsdale also publically stated that she was glad that the wording was removed from in the Democratic platform that abortions should be “legal, safe and RARE.” Yes, let’s increase the “blessing” of abortion.

Ms Ragsdale holds no PhD. The search committee listed her publications which consist of two recent publications in non-peer reviewed journals and several others from over ten years ago – again mostly non-peer reviewed. She has been the vicar of a tiny church that has grown much tinier under tutelage (down from 70 to 42 in the past ten years, something I see as a good thing in that less people are exposed to her poison). She has been the director of a “progressive think tank” whose main purpose was to vilify the Christian right as well as held leadership roles in abortion rights organization trying to increase the “blessing” of abortions.

She is also an openly practicing homosexual. Is this relevant? You bet. The whole business of appointing this obviously non-qualified person is to extend the middle finger to all Episcopalians who are anywhere right of the extreme radical left.

Am I unhappy? Hardly. The liberal seminaries have been closing right and left (or should I say left and left?) recently. Her appointment will only expedite the process at EDS which recently sold off a third of the buildings and announced their admissions were down 25%.

Comparing Rev. Ragsdale and Bishop Robinson to Dr. King doesn’t strengthen your point. You meant Martin Luther King, Jr., and not some another minister…right?

If opposing this radical’s delusions is the “wrong side” of history then you can plant me firmly in that camp as well. I don’t mean to offend but the Episcopal organization seems to be little more than a civic social club with very nice meeting rooms. The national organization and denomination as a whole has abandoned any sense of absolute truth that it might have every had.

I’m continually amazed at how drastically wrong human beings can be once they start basing morality on their own feelings. I’ll close with a verse that is called to mind entirely to often these days.

Proverbs 14:12 There is a way that seems right to a man, but in the end it leads to death.

I detect prejudice and hate in these comments. As an Episcopalian, I’m taught to defend justice and love my fellow humans. Mr. Sanders and his friends have a narrow, close-minded understanding of how the world works. Often times, choosing to do or say the right thing isn’t popular, especially in a state like Arkansas, which full of religious fundamentalists.

“I detect prejudice and hate in these comments.” I am sick of the very tired insult “hateful.” Edward L: “You disagree with abortion being a ‘blessing’? Oh, you are just hateful.”

“Mr. Sanders and his friends have a narrow, close-minded understanding of how the world works.”

This is simple projection. Edward L is the narrow, closed minded one.
