CAC students plant trees for Earth Day

Several Maumelle students who attend Central Arkansas Christian Academy wanted to make a tangible demonstration of their support for Earth Day and Arbor Day. On Friday, April 24, they planted several trees near Lake Willastein.

Fire could have been deadly; Neighbor’s call saved lives

A fire at #6 Platt Cove could have easily become a multiple fatality fire had a neighbor on Yukon Cove not noticed the fire and called the Maumelle Fire Department, according to Chief George Glenn.

Maumelle man gets 4 years in $1.2 million bank fraud

The former senior vice president of Twin City Bank has been sentenced to four years and nine months in federal prison and ordered to pay $1.4 million in restitution for stealing bank funds.

Appeals court upholds ruling against soldier

Cintas Corp. in Maumelle did not violate the Uniform Services Employment and Re-employment Rights Act when it fired an employee who was also a soldier in the U.S. Army active reserves, the 8th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in St. Louis ruled April 22.

A Plus wants second school

Architects presented Academics Plus Charter School’s board of trustees a plan Friday evening in a called board meeting to turn the old Kroger store building into an elementary school. Only three board members were at the meeting, so no action could be taken.

City hosts clerks

City clerks from across the state were in Maumelle last week to attend a regional meeting hosted by City Clerk Joshua Clausen. The group met at the Park on the River and visited sites around the city.

Maumelle Lions Club observes Earth Day

On Thursday morning, April 23, members of the Maumelle Lions Club had their own Earth Day. These Lions tilled 16 garden plots that will be planted and worked this year by residents of Audubon Pointe.

Robinson, Parkview, eStem, Hall, John L. McClellan, Wilbur D.
