MARCH UNEMPLOYMENT DROPS TO 8.3 PERCENT

The Pine Bluff metropolitan statistical area had an unemployment rate of 8.3 percent in March, down from 8.8 percent in February, according to data made available Wednesday by the Department of Workforce Services.

CUSTOMER CHASES OFF ROBBER

A customer at a convenience store on the west side of Pine Bluff apparently frightened a man trying to drive away from the store after robbing it by firing shots in the air, causing the unknown man to abandon his vehicle and flee on foot Tuesday.
