FORT SMITH — Fort Smith police nabbed a suspect in bank robberies here and in neighboring Oklahoma after tracking him through his cell phone.

Authorities arrested Larry Eugene Walden, 57, of Stigler, Okla., on Monday night after his vehicle was found in the parking lot of the Economy Inn in Dardanelle.

Fort Smith investigators were able to approximate Walden’s whereabouts by triangulating his cell phone activity, police Sgt. Levi Risley said.
