LITTLE ROCK — Arkansas Attorney General Dustin McDaniel has filed lawsuits against two more companies he alleges have been making illegal telemarketing calls about car warranties.
The lawsuits filed Tuesday in U.S. District Court in Little Rock accuse Explicit Media of Florida and SVM of Nevada of violating federal and state telemarketing laws by calling Arkansans listed in the “do not call” database; “robo-calling,” or using pre-recorded messages for commercial purposes; and caller ID “spoofing,” or displaying false or misleading telephone numbers on consumers’ caller ID systems.
The attorney general’s office filed lawsuits last month against Auto Warranty Solutions, Vehicle Services and Dealer Warranty Services, alleging similar violations. Those cases are still pending.
“The cases we are filing today are a part of our continuing effort to combat these unlawful and intrusive telemarketing calls concerning automobile warranties,” McDaniel said in a statement issued by his office. “Our investigation in this area is ongoing and may lead to even more litigation.”
