I had high hopes for touring New York Harbor with two of my kids this weekend. I carefully chose my wording, so as to entice rather than deter my boys, who so easily find the “boring” in activities suggested by MOM. After getting everyone to enthusiastically agree to float around listening to a semi-funny guide while snapping pictures and snacking on expensive food, I ventured online to purchase my tickets in advance. Nothing like planning ahead. Unfortunately, I didn’t plan far enough ahead. As I checked website after website, harbor-tour company after harbor-tour company, the words SOLD OUT repeatedly flashed across my screen. My kids are now settling for lunch at a cool restaurant in the heart of the city. But we plan to get there REALLY early, lest the place fills up too quickly with all the folks preparing to tour the harbor.
