Dustin shows liberal leg

There are a couple of interesting things about this national blog post.

First it analyzes the U.S. Supreme Court’s ruling in the Ricci case from New Haven, Conn., yesterday. Most of the political talk is that, by 5-to-4, the court reversed nominee Sonia Sotomayor. Right-wingers say this means she is unfit to serve, which would also mean the four in the minority would need to be ejected immediately as well.

It is hardly disqualifying to be on the opposite side of Scalia, Thomas, Alito and Roberts.

This analysis is that the right-wing bloc, joined this time by Anthony Kennedy, has gone on all judicially activist and changed employment law to make it easier for employers to disregard minorities and hire and promote those horribly beleaguered white people.

Here’s the other interesting thing, as you’ll find deep in the linked post: The liberal People for the American Way put together a conference call for the press with three liberal-friendly “experts” on the ruling, and one was our own Emperor Attorney General Dustin McDaniel, who had hauled off and filed a friend-of-the-court brief. McDaniel was forceful in talking about how this was a setback in civil rights law.

That fascinates me. There seems to be this race on between McDaniel and Lt. Gov. Bill Halter, already in battle to be the Democratic governor after Beebe, to see which can waste the most taxpayer money on self-promotion and which can flash the most left-wing leg.

I’d get down an early bet on Mike Ross for the Democratic gubernatorial nomination in 2014 except that I’m saving my gaming dollar for Keno.
