George S. Smith, a Lonoke County resident, has announced his intentions to run for state senator for District 28, which includes Lonoke and Prairie counties and parts of Arkansas and Pulaski.

Court OKs fine increase

The Lonoke County Quorum Court approved a request by the Sheriff’s Department for an increase from $5 to $15 added to fines for people who receive a misdemeanor offense, such as speeding.
