Home sales, prices down in May

LITTLE ROCK — Arkansas home sales fell 10.5 percent in May, while average home prices dipped just over 2 percent from May 2008, the Arkansas Realtors Association reported Thursday.

Sales slid 12.90 percent in Sebastian County and 12.67 percent in Sebastian County from a year ago, but held steady in Washington County and actually rose .62 percent from May 2008 in Benton County, the association reported.

The statewide average home price was $149,984 in May, down from $153,053 a year ago. Pulaski County had the highest average home prices during the month at $188,967, a 4.63 percent increase from $180,613 in May 2008.
