Pryor says he’s leaning toward backing Sotomayor

LITTLE ROCK — U.S. Sen. Mark Pryor says he’s leaning toward voting for Supreme Court nominee Sonia Sotomayor.

The Democratic senator from Arkansas told The Associated Press on Thursday that he’s been impressed with President Barack Obama’s pick for the nation’s highest court, who wrapped up confirmation hearings before the Senate Judiciary Committee.

Pryor says he’ll know for sure whether he’ll support the federal judge’s confirmation later this month, but predicts that she’ll get at least 70 votes in the Senate. Sen. Blanche Lincoln is still undecided on Sotomayor, a spokeswoman said.
