State, Fort Smith get nearly $37 million from HUD

LITTLE ROCK — The state of Arkansas will receive $35.3 million and the city of Fort Smith $1.4 million to support community development and provide housing for the needy, the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development announced today.

The money will fund the Community Development Block Grant, HOME Investment Partnerships, Emergency Shelter Grant and Housing Opportunity for People with AIDS programs, according to HUD.
