LITTLE ROCK — A new seven-count federal indictment returned Friday against a Russellville doctor already in custody for allegedly possessing machine guns and high explosive grenades also includes charges against his wife.
The new indictment charges Dr. Randeep Mann, 51, with one count each of possessing 98 grenades and possessing a machine gun, and two counts of possessing unregistered firearms.
His wife, Sangeeta “Sue” Mann, 48, is charged with one count each of conspiring to obstruct or impede proceedings, concealing evidence and making a false declaration to a federal grand jury.
Sue Mann was arrested without incident early Friday at her home near London in Pope County and pleaded innocent later in the day at a hearing before U.S. Magistrate J. Thomas Ray. She is to remain in custody until a detention hearing Monday in federal court.
Randeep Mann, who had a medical practice in Russellville, has been in custody since his March 4 arrest on a single charge of possessing unregistered machine guns and explosives only permitted for military.
He is scheduled to be arraigned on the new charges Aug. 18.
Randeep Mann’s arrest followed a raid on his home after a London public works employee found a cache of unregistered, high-explosive grenades in a nearby wooded area.
