TV personality’s fans help fund medical clinic

Arkansas News Bureau

LITTLE ROCK — With help from viewers of the MSNBC program “Countdown with Keith Olbermann,” the National Association of Free Clinics will hold a free medical clinic on Nov. 21 in Little Rock, Lt. Gov. Bill Halter said today.

Olbermann, an outspoken proponent of health care reform, has been asking viewers to donate to the Alexandria, Va.-based association to help fund free one-day clinics in Arkansas and five other states. He announced on the air Thursday that 13,600 people had donated more than $1 million.

The clinic will be held on the bottom floor of the Statehouse Convention Center in downtown Little Rock. The association will set up a registration process for patients and volunteers, Halter said.
