LITTLE ROCK — Arkansans received 172,873 doses of seasonal flu vaccine and swine flu vaccine at mass clinics last week, state health officials said today.
At the clinics held across the state over three days, Arkansans received 148,961 doses of seasonal flu vaccine and 23,912 doses of H1N1 flu vaccine.
Officials with the state Health Department had hoped to make both vaccines available to everyone at the clinics, but because of short supplies the H1N1 vaccine was offered only to children ages 6 months through 4 years, children 5-18 with underlying medical conditions and pregnant women. The seasonal flu vaccine was not limited to specific groups.
Health officials said the state eventually will receive enough H1N1 vaccine to provide it to anyone in the state who wants it.
Additional mass clinics will be announced later, officials said.
