Blog: Football Notes From Thursday

It’s been a wild day around the Razorback Bureau. I spent most of the afternoon taking care of some personal business and have been playing catch-up ever since. But I’m sitting here in Bud Walton Arena waiting for the start of tonight’s exhibition game.

Before we talk basketball, though, wanted to give you the highlights of football coach Bobby Petrino’s press conference today.

• First, Petrino said that running back Michael Smith should be ready to go for Saturday’s game against South Carolina. Smith practiced full-speed the entire week, which is a good sign for the Razorbacks.

• Petrino’s not so sure about cornerback Ramon Broadway. The junior did practice Thursday, but Petrino said he hadn’t really been able to turn it loose until today’s workout. He was going to evaluate the film to see how Broadway looked before making a decision.

• One more personnel note. Cornerback Andru Stewart still has a chance to play Saturday. Stewart, who was suspended for last week’s game for academic reasons, has done everything right so far. Petrino said he still needed to “take care of business” Friday, though.

That’s all for now. We’ll check back with more later. Make sure you follow me on Twitter (@NWARobbie) for hoops notes.
