Walmart donates $100,000 to legal services

Arkansas News Bureau

LITTLE ROCK — The Walmart Foundation and the Walmart Legal Department today donated $100,000 to Legal Aid of Arkansas and the Arkansas Access to Justice Commission for legal services to low-income people in four eastern Arkansas counties.

Through the grant, Legal Aid of Arkansas will create a medical-legal partnership to provide clients access to legal services in a clinical health-care setting.

The counties include Lee, Monroe, Phillips and St. Francis counties, but officials said they hope the program may one day be statewide.

The donation was announced at the Promice of Justice Conference in Little Rock by Kerry Kotouc, associate general counsel for the Walmart Foundation.
