Blog: Robinson Back To Work

Arkansas defensive coordinator Willy Robinson is back at work after spending part of the weekend in the hospital with what the university described as an “infection.”

Coach Bobby Petrino said Robinson, who checked out of the hospital on Saturday and was resting at home during the Razorbacks’ 56-20 win against Troy, came back to the office on Sunday and was in the building Monday. He said Robinson watched some film on Sunday in preparation for Saturday’s game against Mississippi State in Little Rock. He is expected to resume his job duties this week and be back on the sideline Saturday.

“I would anticipate he would,” Petrino said. “He’s ornery enough to, that’s for sure. It’s hard to get him out of the building.”

Monday is a big planning day for the Arkansas coaching staff, which will put together its gameplan for the Bulldogs. But Petrino said he was hoping to send Robinson home earlier than usual. He said the health scare involving Robinson hit home for everyone on Arkansas’ staff, who log long hours during the season. Petrino said the key is to make sure he and the staff eat properly and stay hydrated during the long days.

“It is certainly a concern,” Petrino said. “It hits all of us at home when something like that happens.”

I’ll have more on Robinson in tomorrow’s paper. I do have some injury news to pass along, though.

Arkansas was pretty healthy entering the Troy game, but several Razorbacks were banged up Saturday. Petrino said the only ones of concern, however, were defensive tackle Zach Stadther (knee) and cornerback David Gordon (foot). Both are questoinable for Saturday’s game. Petrino did say linebacker Wendel Davis, who missed the Troy game, should be ready to go for the Bulldogs.
