Blog: East Carolina Now on Arkansas’ Mind

Arkansas sent out an e-mail earlier tonight informing the media that there will be a teleconference tomorrow afternoon that includes athletic director Jeff Long, football coach Bobby Petrino and the “executive director of the bowl that chooses the Razorbacks.”

Of course, we all know what bowl that will be — the Liberty Bowl. It’s the worst-kept secret in the world.

But we found out who the Razorbacks will be playing today after the Conference-USA championship game.

In what could be a called a mild upset, East Carolina beat Houston 38-32 on its home field in Greenville, N.C. tonight. The Pirates (9-4) — who are coached by Skip Holtz, the son of former Arkansas coach Lou Holtz — wrapped up their second consecutive Conference-USA crown and will play in the Liberty Bowl for the second straight season. Last year, Kentucky beat East Carolina 25-19 in the bowl.

We’ll have much, much more on this matchup after Sunday’s teleconference tomorrow afternoon. The “official” announcement is set for 4 p.m.

Until then, here are a couple of stories worth checking out to read up on East Carolina after its win against Houston tonight.
