Blog: De’Anthony Curtis Moves To Wide Receiver

I spent the entire day trying to keep up with all the news and notes coming out of the basketball program Monday. And there were plenty.

If you hadn’t heard: Arkansas announced that assistant Isaac Brown was being reassigned to an administrative role, while Rob Evans and Tom Ostrom were remaining in their current spots. Not only that, guard Rotnei Clarke announced (in a university press release) that he wasn’t seriously consider a transfer and would remain a Hog.

But in between all that, there is one football note to blog about.

I was in the car listening to sports talk radio – specifically The Sports Animals with Shawn and Wally – when an interesting nugget emerged. Bobby Petrino was speaking to the Saline County Razorback Club in Benton County on Monday night and the show aired Petrino’s question-and-answer session with the media at the event. I’m not sure what the exact question was, but it pertained to position switches for players before spring practice begins on March 30.

Petrino mentioned an interesting one — De’Anthony Curtis would be lining up at wide receiver in the spring.

Curtis played running back last year and actually got some work at receiver. But he spent bowl practices working out at cornerback and Arkansas appeared to like what it saw in Curtis at the position. However, Petrino said Curtis wanted to play on offense again and will get his shot out wide.

Petrino will meet with the media here in Northwest Arkansas on Wednesday to preview spring ball.

Curtis’ move will be addressed and I’ll let you know more info when I get it.
