LITTLE ROCK — Ballot proposals that would allow Arkansans to recall elected officials and set term limits for city and county elected officers were rejected by state Attorney General Dustin McDaniel today.
McDaniel said a a proposed initiated act which would allow voters to recall elected officials contained partisan language, failed to explain what type of petition method would be used and was generally too ambiguous, among other faults.
The proposal submitted by Jean McClellan-Chambers, on behalf of Arkansas Voters’ Right of Recall, does not detail how a recall would occur, or the number of people needed to initiate one, the attorney general said.
McClellan-Chambers could not be reached for comment Wednesday. Directory assistance said here telephone service in Fort Smith was disconnected.
The attorney general rejected a proposed constitutional amendment that would set term limits for city and county elected officials because of ambiguities in the text of the proposed measure.
The proposal was submitted by Frederick Scott of Maumelle, on behalf of the Little Red Hen Committee. Scott could not be reached for comment Wednesday afternoon. His telephone number is unpublished.
