LITTLE ROCK — Domingo Barrios of Houston has been named the new president and CEO of Little Rock-based Heifer Foundation, which manages an endowment to support the work of Heifer International.

The foundation said today its board of trustees picked Barrios to replace Janet Ginn, who resigned in May 2009 after being accused of plagiarism and copyright infringement.

A native of Colon, Panama, Barrios immigrated to the U.S. in 1978. He has more than 20 years of experience working in or with the nonprofit sector, most recently as founder and president of The Nonprofit Coach, a private business that helped nonprofit organizations maximize their potential.

Barrios also has served as vice president of the Greater Houston Community Foundation, grant officer for the Houston Endowment Inc., executive director of the CHRISTUS Galveston Ministry, executive director of the Greater Houston Area Health Education Center and administration manager for the city of Houston.

Heifer Foundation and Heifer International are nonprofit organizations that work to provide a sustainable strategy for ending hunger and poverty while caring for the earth.
