Blog: Kicking Off Game Week By Looking Back

Finally. Game week.

It has been a long, long, long, long month for Arkansas’ players, coaches, fans and, yes, even media folks like me. Practice after practice after practice. Story after story after story. But the good news: It’s just about time for an actual football game.

The Razorbacks officially kick into game week mode (although they practiced that, too, last week) and will be getting ready for their first opponent, Tennessee Tech. Arkansas coach Bobby Petrino will kick off the week by speaking to the Northwest Arkansas Touchdown Club today, which you can read more about by clicking this link to my previous blog post.

Did you notice I wrapped up my nine-part, position-by-position series Sunday with a lengthy look at Arkansas quarterback Ryan Mallett and his drive to lead the Razorbacks to a championship? If you didn’t, you can find it by clicking this link.

And while we’re at it, here’s a look back at all nine stories in the series for you to read as we move into game week mode:

Quarterbacks: Arkansas’ record-setting quarterback, Ryan Mallett, leading program’s title charge

Running backs: Arkansas’ has four options, but is looking for someone (or two) to emerge

Wide Receivers: We know the Big Four, but who else will help? Maybe Maudrecus Humphrey

Tight ends: D.J. Williams says he and Ryan Mallett are on the same page after some 2009 struggles.

Offensive line: Center of Attention – Will Travis Swanson win the starting position?

Defensive line: After improving his conditioning, Alfred Davis is ready to help the Razorbacks

Linebackers: Who’s going to start at linebacker? It’s tough to tell after so much shuffling this month.

Defensive Backs: Arkansas’ new-look secondary has one big goal – No more big plays.

Special Teams: Can the Razorbacks finally be a threat in the punt return game with Joe Adams?

I’ll have much more football news, notes, stories and blogs throughout the week, so make sure you bookmark the Razorback section on the Arkansas News Bureau website. Plenty of content still on the way. And if you haven’t done so already, make sure you’re following along on Twitter (@NWARobbie) because I will be updating frequently – in 140 characters or less, of course – as I have throughout the preseason.
