Metroplan director cites highway funding needs

Declining highway revenue is going to force unpopular but necessary choices if Arkansas’ deteriorating roadways are to be restored, Metroplan executive director Jim McKenzie said during the planning organization’s Dec. 15 board of directors meeting.

Former Austin councilman dies in traffic accident

Stephen Berkshire, 65, of Austin was reported killed in a single-vehicle accident Monday. According to an Arkansas State Police report, the accident occurred at about noon.
