The Joyce Elliott (Randy Laverty) Rule?

The spin keeps changing on this “ethics bill.”  But the more I hear about it, the more I wonder if it would be best to get kill the thing before it gets any crazier.  Rep. Clemmer could offer a separate bill for the needed change to the travel expense rules. And since the grandfathering of [...]

The “ethics bill” I have discussed the last few days was officially filed today by Senate Pro Temp Paul Bookout. Rep. Post Calls Sen. Bledsoe’s Pro-Life Bill “A Joke”

As noted a couple weeks ago, Sen. Cecile Bledsoe (R-Rogers) filed a bill – SB113 – supported by Arkansas Right to Life that would make it clear that taxpayer funded abortions cannot be provided by new federal health care legislation.  SB113 would do this by requiring the insured to purchase a separate rider for abortion coverage. Gilbert [...]

Audio of Sen. Holland’s Police Chase

Above is the audio of the police scanner as they were pursuing Sen. Bruce Holland. The audio of the chase last about 15 minutes before they get him stopped – little over 8 minutes in Perry County and 7 minutes in Yell County. It shows a speeding Sen. Holland in a fast sports car wearing his [...]

“Ethics Bill” is Better Than Nothing

My favorite television show growing up was “The Andy Griffith Show.”  Watching this with my dad was a daily routine and I learned a lot of life lessons. One of my favorite scenes is the one above where Goober asks Sheriff Andy if he can watch the courthouse while he is out of town.  Pleading his [...]
