Rep. Fred Smith Found Guilty of Class D Felony (UPDATE – Resigns House)

Rep. Fred Smith (D-Mississippi) has been found guilty of a Class D Felony – theft of property.  Circuit Judge Sam Pope issued the ruling (posted here) this afternoon.  The charge stems for a double payment of $29,250 from the Dermott School District – one to Smith and one to his non-profit.  Apparently, Smith kept both [...]
