Arkansas coach Bobby Petrino asked fans to fill up Razorback Stadium for the Red-White Game, which was televised by ESPN last Saturday.
The stadium wasn’t exactly filled to watch the White’s 45-14 win over the Red, but the announced attendance of 42,000 was still the school’s largest for a spring game. It eclipsed the 40,200 estimated crowd that showed up in 2008, which was Petrino’s first spring.
We also have an idea of where Arkansas’ crowd size may have ranked around the country, thanks to a post from Darren Rovell of CNBC. Rovell took a look at the announced crowds for spring games (noting that this isn’t exactly complete since some schools don’t announce official attendances for spring games). But Arkansas was near the top of the CNBC list.
It’s no surprise to see eight of the top 10 are from the Southeastern Conference, led by Alabama’s 92,310. It’s an attendance figure no one comes close to topping.
Below is the top 10:
Alabama: 92,310
Nebraska: 66,784
Florida State: 53,818
Auburn: 53,209
Florida: 51,000
Georgia: 43,177
Arkansas: 42,000
Mississippi State: 36,357
Tennessee: 35,891
South Carolina: 29,451
