NFL Draft: Arkansas Draft Hopefuls

Former Arkansas quarterback Ryan Mallett is expected to be the first Razorback pulled off the draft board this weekend. But Mallett isn’t the only Arkansas player who should to be selected in the seven-round draft. Here’s a look at the others:

Name: D.J. Williams
Position: Tight end
Ht/Wt: 6-2/245
Arkansas Career: Finished second on the school’s career receptions chart (152). Led Arkansas in receiving with 54 catches with 627 yards and 4 touchdowns in 2010. Also earned the Mackey Award, which recognizes the nation’s top tight end.
Draft Buzz: Regarded as one of the best pass catching tight ends among the draft class, but also noted for being one of the smallest. Williams’ strength will be as a receiver and his talents will likely be best utilized in an H-back role.
NFLDraftScout.com Ranking: No. 6 tight end
Projection: Fourth Round

Name: DeMarcus Love
Position: Offensive line
Ht/Wt: 6-4/315
Arkansas Career: The Texas native was an anchor on the Arkansas offensive line during his career, starting 37 games. That included 26 straight at tackle, where Love moved before the 2009 season after beginning his Arkansas career as a guard.
Draft Buzz: Love opened 2010 as a highly-regarded pro prospect, but has lost ground during the pre-draft process. He struggled at the Senior Bowl, prompting a move to guard where many believe he’ll play at the next level. Love is considered a talented athlete, but a project by prognosticators.
NFLDraftScout.com Ranking: No. 15 offensive tackle
Projection: Fifth Round

Name: Ray Dominguez
Position: Offensive line
Ht/Wt: 6-4, 334
Arkansas Career: Dominguez was a regular on the offensive line the past seasons, earning 23 of his 33 career starts. He played the weakside spot in 2009 before moving over to the strongside in 2010.
Draft Buzz: The Georgia native wasn’t really regarded as a draft prospect before the season began, but has gained some notoriety the past couple of months thanks to pre-draft workouts. Dominguez, who will play guard at the next level, traveled to New York to visit with the Jets earlier this month.
NFLDraftScout.com Ranking: No. 13 Offensive guard
Projection: Seventh Round

Name: Ramon Broadway
Position: Cornerback
Ht/Wt: 5-8/190
Arkansas Career: Broadway started 20 games in his career and was regarded as Arkansas’ top cornerback before suffering an ankle injury late last year. He finished with 165 tackles and two interceptions.
Draft Buzz: Broadway has been slowed by a dislocated ankle he suffered late last season, but ran the 40-yard dash in 4.45 seconds in March. The cornerback could garner a late-round selection  because of his speed, experience in the SEC and tackling ability despite his size. Those traits could help him as he works to make a team.
NFLDraftScout.com Ranking: No. 54 Cornerback
Projection: Seventh Round
