Blog: Pelphrey’s UF Salary Set at $180K

Former Arkansas coach John Pelphrey will earn $180,000 in his new job as an assistant coach at Florida next season, according to the Gainesville Sun.

The newspaper obtained Pelphrey’s salary after an open records request. The salary figure means Arkansas will owe Pelphrey $420,000 this year as part of the former coach’s buyout with the program. Pelphrey was fired by Arkansas in March after going 69-59 in four seasons.

Pelphrey’s contract buyout with Arkansas stipulated he was owed $1.8 million over three years – or $600,000 a year – by the program. But that amount would be reduced if he landed another coaching position. His Florida salary will be subtracted from the buyout figure.
