The long-awaited opening of Maumelle High School was picture-perfect Monday morning as blue skies and many security and police officers greeted students at the first public high school built in Maumelle.

Ban on fireworks proposed

Alderwoman Jan Hogue has proposed a ban on fireworks within the city of Maumelle. She introduced the proposed ordinance during Monday evening’s City Council meeting but immediately called for a month’s delay before the proposal is read.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. And for the 30-plus contestants in the Queens’ Pageant sponsored by Arkansas Home Health Care Association District 1 on Thursday, there were hundreds of people who came out to behold them in their pretty dresses, hairdos and jewelry.
