Tetra breaks ground on $100 million El Dorado plant Friday, Apr 25, 2008 Arkansas News Bureau EL DORADO - TETRA Technologies, an oil and gas services company based outside Houston, will locate a $100 million calcium chloride processing plant in El Dorado, where it will eventually employ 50 people, state economic development officials announced Thursday. Approximately 400 people will be employed in construction of the 500,000-square-foot plant, which is expected to be completed by late 2009. The calcium chloride will be supplied as feedstock for TETRA's completion fluids business, as well as for applications in a variety of other markets, officials said. TETRA is the world's largest vertically integrated producer, marketer and distributor of calcium chloride. "We have chosen South Arkansas for several reasons," said Jim Tidwell, general manager of TETRA's South Arkansas Operation. "It is a positive business environment that includes a quality labor force and a government that understands healthy growing companies provide an underpinning for the local economy." TETRA also has a facility in West Memphis. "TETRA's arrival in Union County will continue the strong tradition of oil-and-gas investment in South Arkansas," Gov. Mike Beebe said. |
