Judy Smith is an administrative assistant in the Arkansas News Bureau. She joined Stephens Media Group in January 1997 after almost 10 years as managing editor of The Benton Courier. She worked her way up through the ranks at Benton, beginning as a part-time reporter covering Bryant city government and won several awards for feature, column and editorial writing. Her work in Little Rock marks the second time she has worked for Dennis Byrd, the bureau chief. Byrd preceded her as editor of The Benton Courier.
Smith and her husband Nolen live in Bryant. They have two children, Libby Singleton of Benton and Nolen Smith of Wellington, New Zealand.
