FAYETTEVILLE — Forward Alandise Harris will not be available to help Arkansas in 2012-13.
Arkansas coach Mike Anderson announced the news during a speaking engagement on Tuesday night, telling the crowd the NCAA had denied Harris’ request for immediate eligibility after transferring from Houston in the offseason. Anderson was not available for comment Wednesday, but an Arkansas spokesperson confirmed the coach’s comments.
The Razorbacks have more talent in the frontcourt this season with Marshawn Powell, Hunter Mickelson, Coty Clarke and Jacorey Williams, but were holding out hope the 6-foot-6 Harris would contribute as well. The Little Rock native would have helped the frontcourt after averaging 13.3 points and 6.4 rebounds during his sophomore season at Houston.
Harris will have two seasons of eligibility remaining beginning in 2013-14.
