Young On Wooden Watch List

FAYETTEVILLE — Arkansas guard BJ Young was named to the Wooden Award Watch List on Monday.

The Wooden Award recognizes the nation's best player and is regarded as one of the most prestigious honors in college basketball.

Young is among 50 players on the preseason watch list, which was compiled in a preseason poll among national college basketball analysts.

The sophomore averaged a team-high 15.3 points a game last season. Young briefly considered an early entry into the NBA Draft, but elected to return to the Razorbacks for 2012-13.

He did not play in Arkansas' second exhibition game or in the season opener after being suspended for violating team rules, but is expected to be back on the court when Arkansas plays Longwood in Bud Walton Arena on Sunday.

Young is the first Arkansas player named to the preseason watch list for the Wooden Award since Ronnie Brewer in 2005-06.
