Four Arkansas companies were honored on Wednesday (May 23) for exporting goods and services throughout the world.
Gov. Mike Beebe presented the companies with the Governor’s Award for Excellence in Global Trade during an awards luncheon at the Governor’s Mansion.

The surprise of the night was the strong showing of Prosecutor Scott Ellington in the First District Congressional Democratic primary.
Ellington held above 50% for most of the evening leading his two rivals Rep. Clark Hall and Gary Latanich. Hall, who led the primary race in fundraising, trailed in second place nearly 10 points behind Ellington.

The Tennessean reports and Dillard’s confirms that it will shift jobs from Tennessee to Arkansas thanks to a new fulfillment center in Maumelle.
The Nashville-based newspaper reports:

On Monday, the Arkansas Lottery Commission renewed a request to seek police powers for the lottery program.
Commissioners want lottery personnel to have the authority, but it must gain legislative approval. In 2010, state lawmakers rejected the effort.
