LITTLE ROCK — Home sales in Arkansas were up nearly 14 percent in October compared to a year ago but average prices were down 2 percent, the Arkansas Realtors Association said Wednesday.
The association said 2,214 homes sold in the state last month in the 43-county area it surveyed, compared to 1,945 in October 2012, an increase of 13.8 percent. The average home price last month was $153,292, down slightly from $156,908 a year earlier.
Pulaski County had the most homes sold in October with 371, followed by Benton County with 369, Washington County with 210 and Craighead and Faulkner counties with 114 each.
In Sebastian County, 105 homes were sold in October. Thirty-five were sold in Jefferson County.
Average home prices for the month were highest in Carroll County at $188,489, followed by Saline County at $182,449, Cleburne County at $177,434, Washington County at $176,928 and Garland County at $176,527.
The average home price in Sebastian County last month was $119,624. The average price in Jefferson County was $91,234.
