FAYETTEVILLE — Wide receiver Melvinson Hartfield is no longer a member of Arkansas’ football team.
Hartfield revealed his departure on Twitter early this morning, posting he was “no longer a Razorback” and added “but it was fun while it lasted.” Arkansas also confirmed that Hartfield is no longer part of the program.
The reason for his departure is not immediately known.
The 5-foot-11, 192-pound Hartfield was a member of Arkansas’ 2013 signing class, but was the last signee to make it to campus last summer. His arrival was delayed while he waited to be ruled academically eligible by the NCAA Clearinghouse.
Once Hartfield arrived, he made an impression on coaches because of his speed and athleticism. However, it was not enough for Hartfield — who attended South Oak Cliff High in Dallas — to make an impact on the field last fall.
