Former legislator Linda Tyler recovering after car crash

LITTLE ROCK — Former state legislator Linda Tyler of Conway was recovering in a hospital Thursday from minor injuries she received in a traffic accident Wednesday afternoon.

In a phone interview from Conway Regional Medical Center, Tyler, 64, said Thursday she was “black and blue from the airbags and really very sore” but otherwise felt OK.

Tyler said she was driving her 2009 Lexus on Hilton Estates Drive about 4 p.m. Wednesday when she ran off the road and hit a mailbox.

“They kind of think I might have blacked out because I ran off the road about 10 or 12 feet before I hit the mailbox and it doesn’t appear that I tried to correct, nor does it appear I braked, and I don’t have any memory of it,” she said.

Tyler said she did not know when she would be discharged.

“They’re running some tests and monitoring me and trying to figure out what happened,” she said.

Tyler, a Democrat, was first elected to the state House in 2009 and was re-elected in 2011. She ran for a state Senate seat in 2012 and lost to Republican Jason Rapert of Conway.
