Teens accused of robbing, killing 90-year-old

JONESBORO — Two 18-year-olds were charged with capital murder Thursday in the robbery and shooting death of a 90-year-old Paragould man during a home invasion last month.

Rashon Webb of Paragould and Lavell Branch-Griffin of Jonesboro could face the death penalty if convicted in the death of Clinton Mason. They are being held without bond in the Greene County Detention Center and are expected to appear for arraignment Dec. 31 in Greene County Circuit Court at Paragould.

The two also are charged with robbing Brenda Botempo of Paragould at her residence. Authorities said the robbery took place about six hours before Mason was robbed and killed at his home.

Prosecutor Scott Ellington of Jonesboro charged each defendant with a single count of capital murder and two counts each of aggravated robbery, aggravated residential burglary and aggravated assault.
