Arkansas WR Cobi Hamilton (6-3, 209, Sr.)
Key Statistics: 31 catches, 591 yards, 4 TDs
Arkansas will play without tight end Chris Gragg once again, which means the spotlight is on Cobi Hamilton in the passing offense. He has produced the past two weeks to say the least, going on a record-breaking tear with 21 catches for 465 yards with three touchdowns. Hamilton followed up his SEC record 303-yard performance at Texas A&M, pulling in 162 more yards at Texas A&M. Quarterback Tyler Wilson will look for Hamilton plenty at Auburn today. But he and offensive coordinator Paul Petrino hope the receiver can turn in big plays. The Texas A&M secondary kept Hamilton out of the endzone with solid tackling on the back line.
Auburn CB T’Sharvan Bell (6-0, 190, Sr.)
Key Statistics: 16 tackles, 2 pass break ups
Auburn’s most experienced cornerback could be matched up against Hamilton plenty today. While it will be difficult to eliminate the Razorbacks’ best receiver (and Tyler Wilson’s favorite target) completely, he can be limited. Look at last week, when Hamilton caught 11 passes for 164 yards. His biggest play came on a 44-yarder, which was improvement from 80-, 57-, and 54-yard catches a week earlier against Rutgers. So Bell and the Auburn secondary will be charged with making sure Hamilton doesn’t break free for big touchdowns and game-changing plays. If it happens, Auburn will be in better position to earn its first conference win of 2012.
