Arkansas WR Cobi Hamilton (6-3, 209, Sr.)
Key Statistics: 73 catches, 1,149 yards, 4 touchdowns
Hamilton continues to pile up records this season, adding the school’s single-season yardage mark to his resume in the South Carolina loss. But the SEC’s leading receiver didn’t have a big impact on the game, catching four passes for 72 yards in the 38-20 loss. Arkansas is hoping Hamilton and Tyler Wilson can connect much more against a defensive backfield led by cornerback Johnthan Banks. Hamilton needs too after being named a Biletnikoff Award semifinalist earlier this week. He is 11 catches and 267 yards shy of eclipsing former Jarius Wright’s career marks.
Mississippi State CB Johnthan Banks 6-2, 185, Sr.)
Key Statistics: Team-leading 4 interceptions; 16 career interceptions
Banks has been one of the SEC’s top cover corners throughout his career and will get a chance to make another impression today. Arkansas moves its receivers around to a variety of spots, but Banks should get plenty of one-on-one time with Hamilton. The senior, who is a candidate for both the Jim Thorpe and Chuck Bednarik awards, is part of a veteran secondary looking for revenge after being stung by the Razorbacks last season. Mississippi State surrendered 373 passing yards in a 44-17 loss. Hamilton caught 4 passes for 36 yards and a touchdown in the win.
