UA expected to play without fullback Kiero Small, who underwent foot surgery Thursday; ULM’s tandem of Jyruss Edwards and Centarius Donald combined for 1,081 yards and 14 TDs in 2011.
UA’s Chris Gragg was named the John Mackey tight end of the week for his performance against JSU; ULM’s top 3 receivers (Brent Leonard, Tavarese maye, Colby Harper) are back this season.
UA’s new-look line performed well last week, surrendering only one sack on 34 pass attempts; Pine Bluff’s Joseph Treadwell, who is entering his second year as a starter, anchors the ULM line at left tackle.
UA sophomore Chris Smith earned SEC co-defensive lineman honors after collecting 6 tackles and a sack against JSU; DE Kentarius Caldwell is ULM’s lone returning starter up front (3 ½ sacks in 2011).
UA’s Alonzo Highsmith and Tenarius Wright were rusty in the opener, but finished with 15 combined tackles; ULM Cameron Blakes, R.J. Young are returning starters with 95 combined tackles last year.
UA safety Ross Rasner had a game-high 11 tackles last week, but the pass defense question marks in surrendering 227 yards; ULM safety Isaiah Newsome was second on the team in INTs in 2011 (three).
