Franks Named Arkansas’ Director of Recruiting

FAYETTEVILLE — Arkansas coach Bret Bielema has hired Southeastern Louisiana associate head coach E.K. Franks as the program’s recruiting director.

Franks replaces Chris Houser, who left the program earlier this winter. Franks worked with Bielema at Kansas State and Wisconsin during his career.

“I have known E.K. Franks for more than a decade and can’t wait to see the positive effect he will bring to our Razorback family,” Bielema said in a statement released by the program Wednesday. “He will lead our recruiting department on a variety of different levels to help bring Arkansas football to the highest level of success.”

Franks has 10 years of collegiate experience, working as an assistant coach, strength coach, academic counselor and director of minority relations. He also has recruiting ties in Texas, Florida, Louisiana, Oklahoma, Kansas and Mississippi.

His first position was as a strength and conditioning coach at Kansas State in 2000, then became an academic counselor and director of minority relations at the university from 2001-03. Franks also was a defensive graduate assistant at Wisconsin when Bielema was the program’s defensive coordinator.

Franks is a Wellington, Kan., native, who earned his bachelor’s degree at Central Oklahoma in 2000 and a master’s degree in adult education from Kansas State in 2002. Franks was a wrestler at Oklahoma and a defensive back at Missouri State.
