FAYETTEVILLE — The Arkansas basketball program is reportedly adding another intriguing game to its nonconference schedule next season.
The Razorbacks will play Dayton in Bud Walton Arena, according CBSSports.com. The nonconference game will be the first part of a home-and-home series with the Flyers. Both teams are scheduled to play in Dayton in 2015-16.
Dayton was an 11-seed in the NCAA Tournament last season, but reached the Elite Eight under coach Archie Miller. Former Arkansas assistant Tom Ostrom is on Miller’s staff. Ostrom worked at Arkansas under former coach John Pelphrey.
The Razorbacks and Flyers have not met since the 1990 NCAA Tournament, when Arkansas won 86-84. It’s the only time the programs have met.
Dayton is the latest to join Arkansas’ beefed up nonconference schedule. The Razorbacks also have road games scheduled at Iowa State (Dec. 4), Clemson (Dec. 7) and Southern Methodist next season.
