Six Arkansas Opponents Ranked in Coaches’ Poll

FAYETTEVILLE — Arkansas’ 2014 football schedule has been rated as one of the toughest in the nation.

The preseason coaches’ poll showed why Thursday.

Six of Arkansas’ 12 opponents are ranked among the top 20 in the 25-team poll. It includes season-opening opponent Auburn, which is ranked No. 5 after reaching the national title game last season.

Other ranked opponents include: Alabama (No. 2), Georgia (No. 12), LSU (No. 13), Ole Miss (No. 19) and Texas A&M (No. 20). Arkansas will play four of the six ranked opponents at home (Alabama, Georgia, LSU and Ole Miss).

The Razorbacks did receive one vote in the coaches’ poll despite being picked to finish last in the SEC West during SEC Media Days two weeks ago. Arkansas coach Bret Bielema is among the 62 coaches voting in the poll this season.

Arkansas players report for preseason camp Sunday. Practice begins Monday.
